Design and build a striking open frame pendant that showcases a backless, see-through resin center - combining metal clay construction with luminous resin accents and a professional soldered bale.

In this hands-on workshop, Patrik Kusek will guide students through creating clean, intentional open frame structures in metal clay designed to hold a transparent or translucent resin “glass” effect without a solid backing. You’ll learn how to engineer the frame for strength and crisp edges, then use dry construction techniques to assemble and refine your design with precision.

To finish, you’ll add resin for a floating, light - catching focal, followed by a quick demonstration on carving cured resin for added detail and texture. Patrik will also demonstrate how to solder a jump ring—used as a sturdy, polished bale - so your pendant hangs beautifully and wears securely.

In this class, students will learn: 
∙How to design and construct open frames in metal clay for a backless, see-through resin focal. 
∙Dry-to-dry construction methods to assemble and refine frame components cleanly and 
accurately. 
∙Strategies for creating strong, crisp edges and openings that enhance the airy, “open” 
effect. 
∙How to add and finish resin in an open frame for a transparent/translucent center. 
∙A quick demonstration of carving cured resin to add texture, pattern, and visual 
dimension. 
∙A demonstration of soldering a jump ring bale for a durable, professional finishing 
solution. 
∙Essential finishing, firing, and polishing tips for a clean, gallery-ready look. 

Kit Fee: $100 — UV resin supplies and soldering paste will be available to use during class.

∙3” 18-guage sterling silver wire
