A clasp is more than just a hook and eye, it's the finishing touch that can escalate your necklaces and bracelets to be the extraordinary pieces you desire! In this two-day class we will be making three different types of original clasps.

We will start off by making the elusive screw clasp, a puzzle clasp and finally a hollow-form lock-and-key clasp. You'll learn about findings placement for balance, attaching fine silver tubing, and carving a key mechanism with a layover clasp.

This is the first time some of these types of clasps have been taught in metal clay.  These techniques will certainly take your metal clay work beyond the typical toggle!
 
This class is ideal for students with some experience in metal clay. 

IN-PERSON - Students should bring: a standard metal clay tool kit, work surface, metal needle files, and any other tools they prefer. Clay Revolution will have extra tools and equipment on site. $20 kit fee will be payable to the instructor in person.
ONLINE-Students should have a standard metal clay tool kit, work surface, metal needle files, textures and any other tools they prefer. Class will be broadcast via Zoom and recorded. Students may view the recording for 30 days following the class. The full class kit including the clay and miscellaneous materials will be mailed prior to class.

The registration fee is $350 and includes both days of instruction along with 30 grams of Project X .999 Flex Silver Clay. 
Materials class kits are $20.00 and include: a special sized screw mechanism, 2mm fine silver tubing and fine silver wire in both 16 and 18gauge.

Jennifer Knollenberg is a Goldsmith and Jewelry Designer. She received her Graduate Jeweler education through the Revere Academy and was certified through the Jewelers Association as a Jewelery Technician in 2001. She holds a master's degree in chemistry and has done advance studies in food science. Having always enjoyed teaching, she became a certified Precious Metal Clay instructor in 2003. She is an avid learner and likes to translate complicated techniques into easy to understand concepts. She has taught highly technical jewelry skills and methods to professional jewelers and lay people even children on topics such as 22kt gold granulation, fusing with argentium, torch-fired enameling, stamping on metal, metal clay and many others. Although Jennifer is highly skilled, her easy going personality and teaching style encourages her students to learn difficult concepts with ease. She is always up for an adventure and her creativity has allowed her to develop both high-end and low-end jewelry lines for sale in art galleries, jewelry stores and local clothing outlets. She enjoys traveling, is an avid baker (she even wrote a cookbook on gluten-free and sugar-free desserts!), keeping honey bees and just about anything that involves fun, learning something new and adventure. She lives in Madison, WI with her husband and son.
