Circle Chain Links: Dimensional Connections
Explore the creative power of metal clay in this design-forward workshop focused on building dimensional, textured chain links and embellishments. We’ll embrace the unique properties of metal clay to develop sculptural circle links and oval connectors that feel intentional and completely one-of-a-kind.
Working with pre-made molds and doming forms, you’ll learn how to shape and curve your clay to form textured, versatile chain elements. We’ll cover essential techniques including controlled thickness, texturing, refining, and creating clean holes for linking. You'll also craft custom connectors from manufactured embellishment molds—perfect complements to your circular links.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a stunning collection of fired and finished fine silver components that can be transformed into a bracelet, necklace, and/or earrings.
Skills You'll Learn:
- Creating dimensional links using silicone molds and doming forms
- . Refining for a clean design
- Strategic hole placement for correct drape and function
- · Finishing, polishing, and optional patina application
