Camp PMC is coming back to The Makery with master metal clay artist Carrie Story! This program is being offered in partnership with Mitsubishi Corporation, Rio Grande Jewelry Supply, the Sawtooth School for Visual Art, and Clay Revolution, and is the only PMC certification program available in the United States today. This is a don’t-miss opportunity to learn everything you need to know about working with the innovative PMC products with one of the top metal clay instructors working today.
This comprehensive two-day course will cover all the fundamental skills required to work with metal clays and be successful with all PMC products. Instruction includes all of the essential techniques: rolling, texturing, cutting, carving, sculpting, molding, refining, firing and polishing. Extra time will be taken to discuss firing processes and we’ll have the opportunity to practice both torch firing and kiln firing.
We’ll make five projects including a pair earrings with a firable stone, a double textured pendant with syringe detail, wrapped beads, a sculpted toggle clasp and a wrapped ring with a firable stone. The projects will utilize PMC3, PMC Flex and PMC OneFire 950 clays to ensure we understand the appropriate usage of each type of clay.
The workshop fee includes all tools and materials you need to complete the certification, including 20g of PMC3, 25g of PMC OneFire 950, 5g of PMC Flex and a 9g PMC3 Syringe, along with findings, stones and a template for every student – plenty of material to complete the projects. The program will conclude with a short written test, after which we’ll all receive a Certificate of Completion from Sawtooth School for Visual Art and an 8% discount on all PMC clays at Clay Revolution and Rio Grande Jewelry Supply.
(Attention teachers: because this program is being offered in partnership with Sawtooth, this workshop may count towards your continuing education requirements!)
This course will also be offered online alongside the in-person course! Carrie Story and Francesca Watson will guide you through each project at we broadcast LIVE! Online students will receive a course kit prior to class. However, students may need to purchase tools and equipment. This can be found on the website here.
