Precision is key. In this class, you'll learn the art of creating a perfectly soldered ring, combining traditional techniques with a modern twist. You'll begin by crafting a ring band from low dome sterling silver wire, ensuring a perfect fit. Once the band is formed, you'll learn to expertly solder a pre-made metal clay component to it, creating a unique and beautiful piece.
In this three-hour class, you will:
- Learn to accurately measure and size a ring band.
- Master sawing and filing techniques for clean metalwork.
- Form a ring band from sterling silver wire.
- Prepare and solder metal components together securely.
- Use pickling solutions to clean metal.
- Polish metal to a professional shine.
- Apply patinas to add depth and character.

Kit: 4" 8g low dome .925 wire, handmade .999 silver component (make a choice in comments during checkout see images for selection)
In Person: You do not need to bring any tools or equipment to class. All supplies will be provided.
Online: Students will need the following tools and equipment: jewelers saw, metal file, large round ring mandrel and/or large round mandrel pliers, mallet, miter vise (not required but helpful), dapping tools (not required but helpful) solderite, flux, medium chip solder, easy paste solder, soldering tweezers, pickle, pickle pot, polishing equipment and patina.
