Learn the basics of Five Star Copper and Bronze Clays in the fun beginner’s class. Copper and bronze metal clays, also referred to as base metals, are slightly different than working with silver metal clays. They require special handling and a bit more knowledge about firing. Gaining a good understanding of these metal clays before jumping into them alone is a great idea. Carrie Story is an expert on base metals. Carrie is the developer and manufacturer of Five Star base metals. In this class, Carrie will share with you the knowledge she has learned over the years to help you be more successful when working with these metals. Students will create two simple projects. One pair of copper earrings and one bronze pendant with a firable stone. Students will learn to texture and mold the clays, reconstitute, embed stones and finding, refine and fire base metals successfully. Earrings will be fired in class and should be complete by the end of the day. The pendants will be fired overnight and available for pick up the next morning.
Kit includes 25g Five Star Copper, 25g Five Star Light Bronze, high fire cubic zirconia, earring wires and use of all materials and tools.
All levels of experience welcome.
